investrly Thought of the Week
(Earnings season)
Earnings season means it’s time to check the temperature of your investments and the overall investing environment. Think of earnings season as a quarterly report card: From a top-down approach, overall results show you how the economy has done. From a bottom-up approach, specific company results give you an idea of how your investment may perform moving forward. As a long term investor, it’s one of the best times to check in on your investment thesis.
Has your company performed to the expectations you and Wall Street have expected? Are there any surprises you need to consider going forward? Would you make a new investment from this moment on? Ask yourself these questions and recognize how the company is performing with actual results. Read to see why your company beat or missed analysts' expectations. As a long term investor, it’s important to remain focused, unemotional, and open to accepting the results, even if they are not what you want to see.
Looking at earnings season as a report card gives you the perfect opportunity to determine your next move. It’s simply another tool in controlling your investment toolkit. Focus on this moment each quarter.

Hello, Public (Invest in brokerage accounts)
In last week’s newsletter, we said goodbye to Robinhood as a brokerage account of choice. After community outreach and research, we’ve decided to use Public moving forward as a recommended brokerage account.
Public is offering a whole new way to invest, making investing in the stock market social. A platform perfect for new investors. We have set up a portfolio group to show transparency and create open communication amongst followers. At this time, this platform does not offer options.

investrly Stock
Peloton - $PTON
Peloton is more than a stay at home stock and stationary bike with an iPad. Peloton is a technology company and the future of digital connected fitness. The company showed you this in their most recent earnings report. Yes, Peloton saw explosive growth in 2020. CEO John Foley has used the extra capital to reinvest in improving their infrastructure while trying to enhance overall customer satisfaction. Due to near-term supply chain hurdles on continued surging demand for their products, the stock fell 7%. This is a short term dip for a longer term growth story, and having Peloton in your portfolio is a good strategy.

Dogecoin - $DOGE (*Not Recommended)
Cryptocurrency is here and it’s a lot more than Bitcoin. Enter “Dogecoin,” the meme coin thats been all the rage lately. This is primarily due to the world’s wealthiest man, Elon Musk promoting it. Like Gamestop and AMC, Dogecoin is a current online cult favorite with momentum. But ask yourself what happens when momentum wears off. Unfortunately, for this meme coin (that was created as a joke, by the way), it doesn't appear to be much. It looks like funny money to us and quite the gamble.
As much as we love sharing investing opportunities, we must share the ones we most certainly recommend staying away from. Practicing good risk management works both ways and will lead to long-term success.
