Chainlink 2.0
Volume 20! As we continue to grow, we thank you for the continued support. This week we rewind and remind that our first newsletter shared Chainlink as our top investment idea. Today, after 4+ months we are even more excited about it’s long term prospects and sharing a major update: Chainlink 2.0.
Last month, the Chainlink team released the whitepaper for 2.0 with the following statement.
In order to lay out an ambitious vision for the future of oracle-enabled smart contracts, we present Chainlink 2.0: Next Steps in the Evolution of Decentralized Oracle Networks—a new whitepaper that outlines how Chainlink Decentralized Oracle Networks can go on to create a decentralized metalayer that enhance smart contracts with highly scalable, confidential, and secure forms of off-chain computation, in addition to the external data that Chainlink already provides today.
Understanding that this can be confusing terminology, we are offering a few terms, links, and quotes hoping it helps you engage.
Terms of the Week
Oracle
An oracle sends data from the outside world, such as the daily weather or the number of votes a political candidate received, to a blockchain.
Smart Contract
Smart contracts are a foundational technology in blockchain and a key element of the Ethereum network. A smart contract is self-executing code that carries out a set of instructions, which are then verified on the blockchain. These contracts are trustless, autonomous, decentralized, and transparent; they are irreversible and unmodifiable once deployed. Quite popular in decentralized finance (DeFi), they have several other use cases. Smart contracts can be bundled into decentralized applications (dApps) to execute more complex functions.
Off-Chain Transactions
Off-chain transactions refer to those transactions occurring on a cryptocurrency network which move the value outside of the blockchain. Due to their zero/low cost, off-chain transactions are gaining popularity, especially among large participants.
Thoughts from top CEO/Founders in the cryptocurrency space about Chainlink powering the future of smart contracts.
Finally, here’s how ChainLinkGod; a chainlink community ambassador and in our opinion expert summed up the cryptocurrency in one sentence for us.
Make no mistake, the opportunity presenting itself over the next few years has never been greater.
As ChainLinkGod says; “we are all in this together”. Invest early in learning more about Chainlink today for tomorrow.
