A wild week ends with a new week beginning in a space becoming more unpredictable each day. Over the past weekend, Moonbirds, a project from Proof Collective, offered an allowlist raffle for wallets with 2.5 ETH inside to register.

You may think 2.5 ETH ($7,500+ USD at time of writing) is an extreme amount needed for a chance to mint a project. And you'd be both very right and also very wrong.
Very right because the concept of web3 is a space and place for all without gatekeeping. And to us, gatekeeping begins when you remove a large amount of users from even having the opportunity to participate.
Very wrong because the concept of web3 is quickly having a web2 moment, where the wealthy are getting wealthier and creating gates that keep many out. So, this cannot be surprising and yet, potentially, you’d also be very wrong because the project has set all sorts of records in less than 72 hours with a floor price reaching over 20 ETH ($60,000 USD).
Lastly, while Moonbirds take flight and create an entirely new narrative for the NFT and web3 space, it’s important to recognize opportunity.
